Travel bug bites again

This seems to happen every 2-3 years.  I am forced to sit still for a little while.  Study. Drink coffee.  And then when I least expect it, the travel bug creeps up and gets me.

I am now in my 4th and final year of medical school, which translates to lots of free time.  I knew at the beginning of this year that I wanted to take the opportunity to do an international rotation.  I choose instead to do 2, because 4th year means free time and fun time!  My first rotation will be an Ob/Gyn rotation in Edinburgh Scotland, because...Scotland.  I will be there for 2 weeks starting on Monday, April 6th.  My second rotation will be in London for one week.  I am doing a reproductive health externship in London through Medical Students For Choice.  My particular medical school does not offer rotations in family planning (read - birth control counseling and abortion training).  Therefore, for those of us who would like this type of training, we must go elsewhere to receive it.  That being said, there are plenty of places in the United States (Chicago) that offer this training, but...London.

So here I am, sitting in my hipster coffee shop in Madison, 24 hours away from boarding a flight in Chicago to the UK.  I haven't started packing (or unpacking from my trip to Costa Rica last week) and I am surrounded by piles of thank you cards I have meant to write for our wedding 6 months ago.  Hopefully procrastination will lead to success one more time during my medical school career.  For now I'll try a few more thank you cards...see ya on the other side of the pond!
